Man threatens girlfriend with baseball bat, sledgehammer, charges say

A 47-year-old man was charged with aggravated assault Tuesday for allegedly threatening his girlfriend with a baseball bat and a sledgehammer.

Court documents state that the incident began on June 26, after the man awoke the woman by "yelling at her about money." He threatened to kill her with a baseball bat before destroying various items in the bedroom and living room, court documents say.

The charges state that the woman then tried to leave the home when the man grabbed her throat and carried her to the garage where he threw against a wall and threatened her with a sledgehammer. The man again said he was going to kill her, but he was stopped by neighbors who came to the home and informed the man that they had called the police, according to court documents.
