CACHE COUNTY — A 57-year-old woman died Tuesday after she was struck by a dozing motorist who had drifted into her lane, officials said.
Mary Doty, of Logan, was traveling west on state Route 30 when an 18-year-old in a Ford truck heading east dozed off, crossed the center line and hit Doty's Nissan Murano, Utah Highway Patrol spokesman Cameron Roden said. Doty died immediately in the collision.
The driver of the truck was extricated from his vehicle and taken by ambulance to Logan Regional Hospital. He was later flown to University Hospital in Salt Lake City, where he was listed in critical condition, the UHP said.
UHP officials said both drivers were wearing seat belts. Officers are currently investigating to determine whether charges will be filed.
