Help the truly needy

In response to Albert Winkler's letter about panhandling: He must be seeing very different panhandlers than I see. I do believe that many who pandhandle have mental illnesses and need help. However, where I go, I see the same people day after day, week after week and even year after year. The panhandlers I see are around the temple grounds in Salt Lake daily. The one on the north entrance to the temple grounds has been there for eight years.

You can't make me think these are really people in need, unless it's because they don't want to change. I have bought lunches for these people, only to be told they don't need food, just money.

I think helping the needy is great. Give to a cause where you know your money is going to help.
