NEW ORLEANS — The Salt Lake Bees snapped a 35-inning scoreless streak by scoring seven runs in the eighth inning, as Salt Lake shut out the New Orleans Zephyrs 7-0 on Thursday night.
The Bees broke through as Freddy Sandoval looped a single to center with two out that brought home Adam Pavkovich with their first run since the first inning on Monday at Oklahoma City.
After Terry Evans walked to load the bases, Brandon Wood followed with a three-run double to make it 4-0. Sean Rodriguez walked and Chris Pettit reached on an infield single to reload the bases before Bobby Wilson delivered another three-run double.
Brad Knox (7-8) picked up the win as he tossed eight shutout innings, allowing just five hits and one walk. New Orleans loaded the bases with no outs in the ninth against Francisco Rodriguez, but he retired the next three batters to preserve the Bees' seventh shutout of the season and end the Bees' six-game losing streak.a
