BYU fullback Manase Tonga returned to the practice field Friday morning for the first time since the end of the 2007 season.

Tonga, who was ruled academically ineligible and sat out the entire 2008 campaign, was re-admitted to school Friday morning, then attended a light practice, participating in positional drills and seeing some action with the first-team offense during 11-on-11 drills. He caught two passes for 31 yards coming out of the backfield during the drills.

Due to the NCAA's acclimation protocol, Tonga won't be able to wear full pads until Wednesday.
