So many "doomsday" letters have appeared lately — there's so much to be frightened of. However, life is good. Ask smiling Gary Ceran (Lee Benson's column, Aug. 19) who lost seven children, his wife and his business, yet cheerfully sells Italian ice cream on downtown streets.
For instance, my plumber who came promptly, fixed the sink then (unbelievably) cleaned up the black goo that had erupted on the basement floor.
At a recent doctor visit, the doctor actually stopped looking at his computer to sketch and carefully explain things in real language.
I have a car guy who is honest to the dime and will never fix something that doesn't really need it.
And what about Terry Mercer, the helicopter pilot whose 12 daring "precision landings" on a 25-foot-wide pinnacle probably saved a hiker's life.
Life's not too bad with people like these around.
