The Utah Chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation invites participants for the 13th annual Walk to Cure Diabetes on Saturday, Aug. 29, from 8:30 a.m. to noon at Wheeler Farm.

Additional walks sponsored by the organization will be held on Saturday, Sept. 12, at Willow Park in Logan and Saturday, Sept. 26, at the SCERA Park in Orem.

Many participants are affected with the disease. Some 14 million Americans have a personal connection to type-1 diabetes and join in the walks, which include food, entertainment and music. On-site registration begins at 8:30 a.m., and the walks are approximately 2.5 miles long.

The foundation "is immensely appreciative of Ray Pickup and Workers Compensation Fund's participation," said Dan Hair, the local chapter's president. "This is corporate citizenship at its finest. The commitment of Ray and WCF enables us to accelerate research to find a cure for diabetes. Insulin is not a cure, merely life support for the estimated 3 million Americans suffering from type-1 diabetes and its complications. Research is the only answer."
