WOMEN'S BASKETBALL: The Griffins shored up the backcourt with a trio of signings on Monday.

Guards Heather Anderson and Kristie Henriod and forward Angela Fales all signed letters of intent to play for the Griffins for the 2009-10 season.

Henroid, a 5-7 guard from West Valley City, played for Cyprus High, where she earned all-state honors as a senior after leading the state with 21.8 points per game. Anderson, a 5-10 guard from Bountiful, played at Woods Cross and is a transfer from Otero Junior College where she shot 39.1 percent from three-point range.

Both players should help fill the void created by the graduations of Shannon Evans, Elisa Leader and Mara Hoskins. Leader and Evans were the team's top two scorers during 2008-09 season, averaging 16.0 and 15.1 points per game, respectively.

Fales, a 6-1 forward from Boise, is a transfer from Big Bend Community College, where she was a two-year starter. During that time, Fales averaged 10.1 points per game and made 38 percent of her 3-point attempts.

All three players will join Westminster coming off its most successful season in school history. The Griffins posted a 27-7 record and claimed the Frontier Conference regular-season championship a year ago. They will open the 2009-10 season on Oct. 30 against William Jessup College.
