ST. GEORGE — A man wearing only a black Speedo swimsuit was arrested over the weekend for allegedly peeking at teenage girls through house windows.
James Austin, 31, of St. George, was booked into the Washington County Jail for investigation of four counts of voyeurism, two counts of disorderly conduct, failure to stop for police and criminal trespassing.
Just before 10 p.m. Sunday, two or three 15- to 17-year-old girls were inside a house near 1300 West and 400 North when they heard someone knocking on their window, said St. George police officer James Schafer.
The girls were startled and became alarmed, he said. A couple of minutes later, the man, wearing only a Speedo, returned and knocked on the window again.
The father of one of the girls was alerted, and he went outside to chase the man. The man got away, but while responding officers were in the area, emergency dispatchers received another call about a man in the same area knocking on a window with young girls inside, Schafer said.
This time, police spotted the man and were able to chase him down and arrest him.
This isn't the first time Austin has been arrested in connection with voyeurism. Schafer said Austin was arrested in a similar incident last November.
"His mannerisms most definitely cause alarm," Schafer said.
