WEST JORDAN — The West Jordan City Council has changed its meetings from Tuesday nights to Wednesday nights to allow council participation in Jordan School District board meetings.
The change was brought up in light of controversies such as the district's planned property-tax increase.
"Having the council able to attend school board meetings is only one aspect of it," said Councilwoman Melissa Johnson. "I think having the public able to attend both meetings, if they so choose, is also important."
The meeting change will occur in time for the first council session in October. Council business meetings are held the second and fourth weeks of the month.
The City Council voted not to change Planning Commission meetings to Tuesdays, although it plans to do so in January 2010. For the remainder of 2009, the planning body will meet the first and third Wednesdays of the month.
