Police are looking for two men who they believe stopped people on the street, threatened them with a gun and demanded money in two separate incidents.

The first reported incident occurred Tuesday around 3:30 p.m., when two friends were leaving a park near 1650 W. 1000 North, said Salt Lake City Police detective Dennis McGowan.

The would-be robbers stopped the men and "displayed a pistol, stating something to the effect of 'give me the money, give me everything,'" McGowan said.

The two men convinced the gunmen they didn't have any money. The gunmen then left the scene in a white Mazda Protege, police said.

As officers were investigating the incident, they were approached by a man who told them he had been robbed Monday by two men matching the suspects' description, McGowan said. The man said he gave them money but didn't report the incident.

Police described the suspects as adult white men, one 5 feet 8 inches tall and who was wearing a black hat and the other is 6 feet 4 inches tall and was wearing a white shirt and gray shorts.
