It seems like the pundits are concentrating on the tone-downed interrogation techniques of suspected terrorists by the White House. While following the U.S. Army's field book may lead to poorer intelligence on potential terrorist attacks, I am not convinced that the shift in responsibility of these interrogations from the CIA to the White House is conducive to a free democracy. It concerns me that so much power without checks and balances is being concentrated in the White House.
