SANPETE COUNTY — Lightning ignited a fire Monday seven miles northeast of Ephraim in the Manti-La Sal National Forest.

Fire managers assessed the Little Horseshoe fire and decided to manage it for resource benefit, the Forest Service said.

The fire is visible from U.S. 89 and is expected to grow as temperatures increase and humidity decreases this weekend.

Roads and trails haven't been closed in the area, but officials are urging hunters and visitors in the Manti-La Sal National Forest to use caution with campfires as vegetation is drying.
