I received an e-mail recently asking for all Americans to display the American flag to commemorate the eighth anniversary of the attacks on the World Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001. This sounds like a great idea. I have been told by a number of adults that "kids just don't care anymore." But I have worked with enough kids over the years to know that statement is totally incorrect. I know from a firsthand perspective that kids care plenty, and I also know that kids have a strong voice that can make a big difference in their community and in their country.

Let's show how much we love our country and proudly display the flag on Sept. 11 and throughout the year.
