The Utah Department of Transportation advises motorists that the Legacy Parkway will close to all traffic beginning at 5 a.m. Saturday to accommodate a run and bike race for the Hess Cancer Foundation. The Utah Highway Patrol and local law enforcement officials will close the Legacy Parkway at its entrances from northbound I-215, southbound I-15, southbound U.S. 89 and at the Parrish Lane and 500 South interchanges with the parkway.
The Hess Cancer Foundation's event includes a half marathon, 20-mile bike race and 2-mile fun run. The event starts at the intersection of Legacy Parkway and Center Street in North Salt Lake. All events will be held on the east side of Legacy Parkway and are out-and-back courses.
Details about the event are available at hesscancer.org.
The parkway will reopen to traffic at 1 p.m. Saturday. All traffic normally using the Legacy Parkway will use I-15 during the closure.
