Two Utah teenagers were awarded cash prizes by the Department of Public Safety for videos they created on motorcycle safety, officials said.

Joe Sloan of Salt Lake City was awarded $1,000 for his first-place entry, while AnnaLisa Maddox was given $500 for the second-place prize, according to a news release. The contest was part of the Utah Highway Safety Office's campaign "Drive Aware. Ride Aware."

The campaign aims to promote safety for all drivers and motorcyclists. In addition to holding this contest, officers have been speaking on the program throughout the state in high-school driver's educations classes, the news release said.

The contest called for submissions that would help encourage safe riding and driving.
