SANDY — A new urban fishery stocked with bluegill, catfish, bass and trout will open officially Tuesday at 10 a.m.

Utah Sen. Bob Bennett, Sandy Mayor Tom Dolan and the Sandy City Council will be on hand to celebrate the new facility, according to Sandy spokeswoman Trina Duerkson.

The new fishery is located along the Jordan River near the River Oaks Golf Course, about 9800 South and 1000 West. It will be stocked by the state Department of Wildlife Resources, Duerkson said.

The new pond site will include a fish-cleaning station and a covered pavilion and playground.
