Sunday on TV
Little League World Series (1 p.m., Ch. 4): The championship game
NFL preseason (6 p.m., Ch. 5): Bears at Broncos
Daytime Emmy Awards (7 p.m., Ch. 30): The Daytime Emmys are on The CW this year, which is a bit ironic because The CW has no daytime shows. So why is this on The CW? Because none of the "real" networks wanted it. CBS was scheduled to air the awards show this year, but declined because of declining ratings for the Daytime Emmys — it said it would lose too much money on the show. ABC, which had been alternating with CBS, declined, as well. As did ABC-owned SoapNet. But The CW (which is half-owned by CBS) stepped up. I don't know who will win the Emmy for best soap opera, but I can tell you one thing for absolute certain — the telecast will be just loaded with promos for "90210," "Melrose Place," "Gossip Girl," "One Tree Hill," "The Vampire Diaries" and the rest of The CW's shows. (The show is on a one-hour tape-delay in this time zone. And it will be preceded at 6 p.m. by red-carpet-arrival nonsense.)
Drop Dead Diva (7 and 9 p.m., Lifetime): Jane has to prove that her client isn't insane.
The Human Family Tree (7 and 10 p.m., National Geographic): Scientists use DNA samples to show that all humans share common ancestors.
Masterpiece Mystery! (8 p.m., Ch. 7): Inspector Lewis investigates the murders of a student and a maintenance man.
Mad Men (8, 9 and 11 p.m., AMC): The writers are forced to work long hours; Roger throws a party, but so do Joan and Greg.
Army Wives (8 and 10 p.m., Lifetime): Claudia Joy wants to keep her condition quiet; Pamela is worried about Chase.
Defying Gravity (9 p.m., Ch. 4): An accident endangers a crew member's life.
True Blood (10 p.m., HBO): Bill tries to get help from the Vampire Queen of Louisiana.
Entourage (11 p.m., HBO): Eric agrees to meet with Sloan.
