COALVILLE — A man convicted of forcible sexual abuse of a child in 1991 and who was arrested for investigation of attempted child kidnapping Sunday has been released from custody.

Prosecutors said Thursday there was insufficient evidence to charge the Coalville man.

Keith Bowen Shaw, 76, was arrested Sunday after two women who apparently knew of his past conviction saw him talking to an 11-year-old boy near a skate park. Police said Shaw was accused of trying to lure the boy to his home with promises of food.

In a statement issued Thursday, Summit County Attorney David Brickey said Shaw was released Wednesday after prosecutors determined there was not enough evidence to charge him with a crime. "However, this matter continues to remain under investigation, and anyone with information related to this incident is encouraged to contact the Summit County Sheriff's Office," the news release said.
