NEW YORK — Robinson Cano hit a three-run homer with two outs in the 10th inning to give New York a 5-2 victory over Chicago on Friday night.

Cano hit a 2-2 pitch from Randy Williams (0-1) into New York's bullpen in right-center. Williams retired the first two batters he faced before walking both Hideki Matsui and Nick Swisher on four pitches to set up Cano's first game-ending homer.

Brian Bruney (4-0) worked a perfect 10th inning for the win.

Derek Jeter hit his second leadoff homer this week and Johnny Damon also connected for AL East-leading New York.

Mark Buehrle pitched six effective innings for the White Sox but remained winless in seven starts since his perfect game on July 23.

TIGERS 6, RAYS 2: At Detroit — Brandon Inge homered and scored twice for Detroit and rookie Rick Porcello (11-8) won for the first time since Aug. 6, allowing one run and four hits in 5 2-3 innings. Four relievers combined to finish the six-hitter.

Matt Garza (7-9) took the loss, giving up six runs and five hits in five innings.

TWINS 3, RANGERS 2: At Minneapolis — Rookie Brian Duensing struck out eight in seven innings in his third career start to lead Minnesota.

The Twins have won eight of their last 10 games.

Tommy Hunter (6-3) gave up three runs and seven hits in seven innings for the Rangers, who got an RBI-double from David Murphy in the ninth and had the tying run on second base.

But Joe Nathan got Chris Davis looking on a close call for his 33rd save.

Michael Young extended his hitting streak to 15 games with a single in the sixth inning.

ORIOLES 13, INDIANS 4: At Baltimore, rookie Matt Wieters had three hits and a career-high four RBIs, Nick Markakis and Felix Pie homered, and Baltimore cruised past Cleveland.

Luke Scott scored three runs for the Orioles, who improved to 13-28 since the All-Star break. Baltimore trailed 2-0 in the second before scoring six runs over a four-inning stretch against Fausto Carmona (3-9).

Jason Berken (4-11) won his second straight start, allowing two runs, five hits and three walks in five innings.

RED SOX 6, BLUE JAYS 5: At Boston, J.D. Drew had two hits, including an eighth-inning double that put David Ortiz in position to score the tiebreaking run, and the Boston Red Sox rallied from a pair of deficits to beat the Toronto Blue Jays 6-5 on Friday night.

Toronto led 3-0 and 5-3 on another two home runs off struggling Red Sox starter Josh Beckett — that makes 12 homers in his last four starts — but twice Boston came back to tie it.

Brian Tallet (5-8) walked Ortiz — his only batter — to lead off the eighth, then Drew doubled one out later to put runners on second and third. Jason Varitek was intentionally walked, then pinch-hitter Casey Kotchman hit a hard grounder that first baseman Lyle Overbay knocked down; he could only get the force at second as Ortiz scored to make it 6-5.

MARINERS 6, ROYALS 3: At Seattle, fill-in Josh Wilson had his first three-RBI game in more than two years, and former Royals All-Star Mike Sweeney burned his old team with a hustle play to score one of his two runs Seattle's 6-3 victory over Kansas City.

Mariners ace Felix Hernandez was far from sharp, throwing first-pitch strikes to only 11 of the 27 batters he faced in seven so-so innings.

Yet Hernandez (13-5) allowed the lowly Royals just five hits and three runs..

ANGELS 11, A'S 7: At Anaheim, Kendry Morales went 5-for-5 with six RBIs and the Angels scored seven in the seventh to rally past the Athletics. Eight Oakland batters had a hit in the loss.
