LEHI — The design for Lehi's Historic Utah Southern Rail Trail is complete and construction will begin as early as next week.

The 10-foot wide multipurpose trail will extend the length of the city, linking existing and planned trails. The 3.3-mile, $1.9 million first phase will follow the Utah Transit Authority corridor between 300 West and Cabela's Boulevard. Construction for phase one will wrap up mid-November. It will include connections to the Pheasant Pointe Development and Country Lane Homes and a bicycle/pedestrian bridge over Cabela's Boulevard. Future phases will connect to the trail to the proposed Point of the Mountain trail in Salt Lake County to the north and American Fork to the south.

The project is funded with federal stimulus money.
