AMERICAN FORK — Federal officials are proposing a new visitors center for Timpanogos Cave National Monument and an interagency government building at the mouth of American Fork Canyon.
The monument's new visitors center would replace a double-wide mobile home in use as the park's headquarters ever since a 1991 fire destroyed the main building. The double-wide is also in a hazardous area where rocks sometimes break off from a nearby cliff and hit the building.
The interagency building at the canyon's mouth would include offices for the U.S. Forest Service, visitor services and administrative space.
