Bennett's compromise

Sen. Bob Bennett was interviewed on the Doug Wright Show July 30. He stated he is working on compromise health-care legislation and quoted his father, Sen. Wallace F. Bennett, as saying laws are legislated by compromising to the lowest level of agreement. The problem is compromise avoids facing and correcting the total problem. All compromise does is delay what really needs to be done.

If the health-care reform legislation is good for the American public, why has an amendment been added exempting our senators and congressmen form the plan and allowing them to keep their own private health insurance? Sen. Bennett should not propose any legislation the he and his fellow senators and congressmen will not participate in. Only when Congress has to face the same issues the American public does in health care, will he have true health-care reform.
