Medicare to blame

I read the letter to the editor from Fred Ash (Readers' Forum, July 24). He nailed the problem with a bull's-eye. Plot the costs of medical care (less the cost of new innovations) both before and after the onset of Medicare and you will find that the main insurance fueling the inflationary trend was Medicare.

The increase in necessary administration, clerks and paperwork has been overwhelming.

My interpretation is that government has caused the problems in medical care.
