Sword wielder threatened by machete wielder

A South Salt Lake man has been charged with breaking into a home, chasing a man while carrying a machete and threatening to kill him.

A Millcreek man told police Brett Louis Posselli Jr. started yelling obscenities at him while he was sitting in his trailer home. After being told to be quiet, Posselli entered the man's house and assaulted him, according to charges filed Wednesday in 3rd District Court.

The injured man said he then grabbed a sword and Posselli left.

Posselli, 37, then returned with a machete and attempted to gain entrance, the charges state.

Prosecutors say Posselli was previously convicted of a felony and is not allowed to have a dangerous weapon. He was charged Wednesday with burglary, a second-degree felony; aggravated assault, a third-degree felony; and possession of a dangerous weapon by a restricted person, a class A misdemeanor.
