This could have been another run-of-the-mill music-business New Year's Resolution essay.

I could've written a little list of who should do what and why. But I won't.

I could've written my resolutions and why I need to do them.

But I didn't.

Instead, I wrote this little list about what I'm looking forward to this new year. Some of these will happen, and some of these are the result of my long hours of dreaming and wishing.

Without further ado, here is the list:

1. Dave Matthews Band finally playing in Utah, without rescheduling or canceling.

2. Christina Aguilera making a comeback and showing Lady Gaga how it's really supposed to be done. (While I don't really like either of them, if I had to choose between the two, it would be Aguilera).

3. Britney Spears spending more time with her family and new husband and taking a break from the music business. (Even though she is supposed to release a new CD in May).

4. The Ahmad Jamal concert at the Salt Lake Sheraton on Jan. 11.

5. Steven Tyler getting healthy again and getting off painkillers.

6. The Jeff Bridges movie "Crazy Heart." (If only to hear Bridges sing songs co-written by T-Bone Burnett and the late Stephen Bruton.)

7. Rob Zombie's "Hellbelly Deluxe 2," which will be released Feb. 2.

8. The rumored Pantera Box set that is suppose to be released sometime in 2010.

9. "The Runaways," a movie about the band Joan Jett and Lita Ford, portrayed by Kristen Stewart and Scout Taylor-Compton, respectively, were in before they became successful punk and rock artists.

10. Reba McEntire's comeback.

And there you have it.

Happy New Year.
