COVE FORT, Millard County — Cove Fort is open every day of the year
except when it snows too heavily and walks are unsafe for visitors. The
tours are free.
Historic Cove Fort was built in 1867 as a weigh station for
travelers. The fort has been fully restored to its condition in 1867.
Tours include a short video that tells how Ira Hinckley was
called on by Brigham Young to build Cove Fort and then manage it. The
tour of the fort includes all of the rooms in the fort, and it can be
as long or short as visitors have time for.
Cove Fort, in the southeast corner of Millard County and 20 miles
south of Kanosh, is at the junction of I-70 and I-15 just a mile from
the freeways. Take Exit 1 from I-70 or Exit 135 from I-15 and follow
the signs. Parking is free.
