Being a member of the LDS Church, I am disappointed when others smear my religion along with other religions without a grain of truth. George Hawkins (Readers' Forum, Dec. 30) essentially says that Islam is a religion of radical terrorists. Islam literally means "submission to the will of God." Those who submit to the will of God, and keep his commandments, find peace. Is that all too different from Christianity?
Islam has more than 1.5 billion members worldwide. Clearly, the vast majority do not participate in terrorism against our country. Brian David Mitchell, a Christian, proved that using religion could promote his radical agenda. A few corrupt men use poverty, ignorance, fear and the Islamic religion to promote their horrific agendas. Labeling a particular religion for the actions of the minority is not fair or accurate.
