PHOENIX — Residents opposing the construction of a Mormon temple in North Phoenix say they have enough signatures to overturn the city council's approval of the project.Several neighbors who live near 51st Avenue and Pinnacle Peak Road formed a political action committee earlier this month, after the council approved the church to be built taller than city zoning laws currently allow. After weeks of gathering signatures, they turned in a petition they say contains more than 16,000 signatures to the City Clerk's office. It takes 9,800 signatures for the measure to be eligible for a referendum.
