The Utah women's basketball team has won six of its last seven games and looks to continue the streak today in an afternoon game at 2:00 p.mm against SMU in the Huntsman Center.
In their last outing, the Utes rallied from a 15-point deficit to defeat Oregon 89-86 in overtime.
SMU has a streak of its own, winning three of its last four games. Overall the Mustangs stand at 8-2 and the Utes are 7-4.
SMU won the last meeting between the two teams in 2001, 49-48 in Dallas, while the Utes took the win in 2000 by a score of 79-40 in Salt Lake City. The Utes lead the all-time series 5-4.
Utah boasts three players who score in double figures. Kalee Whipple at 16.6 points, Taryn Wicijowski at 14.9 and Janita Badon at 10.6. Halie Sawyer leads the team in rebounding with an 8.5 average and she has 12 blocks.
The Utes are still looking for a consistent fifth starter. That spot has been shared by senior Sasha McKinnon, and freshmen Iwalani Rodriguez and Rachel Messer.
