MADRID — The president of the Spanish athletics federation defended the body's actions while refusing to resign after 14 people — including vice president Marta Dominguez — were implicated in a doping investigation.
Federation president Jose Maria Odriozola says "I'm just a victim in all of this." He said resigning would be "ridiculous."
Dominguez, the world steeplechase champion, is among those being investigated by the Spanish Civil Guard, which turned up doping agents and equipment in raids across the country last week in Operation Galgo.
Odriozola says the federation didn't "officially" know that Eufemiano Fuentes was Dominguez's personal doctor. Fuentes was among those arrested in the Operation Puerto investigation into doping in cycling.
