Susan Louise Sorensen Litchfield 1942 ~ 2010

Susan Louise Sorensen Litchfield, 68, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her children and family on Dec. 9th, 2010 from a short but valiant fight with pancreaticcancer. She was born on September 13, 1942 to Miles and Jewel Sorensen in Mt. Pleasant, Utah. She loved her childhood of helping her mother in the kitchen and her father on the sheep ranch. She graduated from North Sanpete High and Snow College before graduating from Utah State University with a bachelors in Home Economics. While in Logan, she met and fell in love with Douglas William (Litch) Litchfield and they were sealed in the Manti Temple in March of 1965. She taught Home Ec a few years but turned her focus to raising their five children in Salt Lake City. When her youngest started school she went back to teaching at Granite Park then Brockbank Jr. High Schools and earned many endorsements and awards including teacher of the year. Her real joy was teaching private piano lessons which combined her love of music and teaching. She loved the Lord and attended the LDS Cottonwood First ward for 42 years. Her dedication and selfless service in her many callings, especially years at the organ, will be missed. She made friends everywhere with her bright spirit and caring heart. Everyone she met was included in her service and love. She was a nurturing mother, loving grandma, dear friend to many and pillar of strength to all. She is survived by her five children, Lantz (Sarah), Lonn (Diana), Laryn, Lori and Lynn; her five grandchildren, Tyler, Jadon, Asher, Celeste and Grant. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and brother. The funeral service will be held on December 18, at 11:00 a.m. at the LDS ward house at 5910 S. Highland Drive. Friends may call at Wasatch Lawn (3401 S. Highland Dr.) on Friday from 5-8 or at the ward house at 10:00 a.m. preceding the funeral. Interment will be in Mount Pleasant City Cemetery after the funeral.
