Richard Pickett, Small Business Development Center director in Northeast-East Central Colorado, was selected as the 2010 State Star of the Colorado SBDC Network.

Pickett, a member of the Bison Ridge Ward, Loveland Colorado Stake, received the honor in San Antonio, Texas, on Sept. 24, in conjunction with American Small Business Development Center's annual conference. He was honored along with leaders from all 50 states.

Pickett, who has worked with the Small Business District Center in northern Colorado for just 2½ years, has also been director of building and grounds for the LDS Church Western New York Historic Sites.

His LDS Church service has included bishop, high councilor, high priest group leader, elders quorum president and Young Men president. He is currently executive secretary in the Denver Colorado North Mission.

He and his wife, Brigita, have been married 41 years. They have two sons, two daughters and five grandchildren.
