Utes' Henderson suspended one game

Marshall Henderson, who was ejected from Saturday night's game against BYU for hitting Jackson Emery, will be suspended for one game, Ute coach Jim Boylen said Sunday.

"He is suspended and will not play against Colorado State," said Boylen. "I'm disappointed in Marshall, but you've got to learn to control your emotions. He's a competitor and he'll learn from this."

Henderson had just been fouled by Emery with 34 seconds left and had tried to bounce the ball off Jonathan Tavernari as the whistle blew. Emery took offense and as he confronted Henderson, the Ute freshman hit him with the back of his left hand, causing Emery to hit the floor.

"We've always been pro-active in these situations," Boylen said, noting that the Utes suspended Luka Drca last year after he tripped Oklahoma's Blake Griffin.

The Mountain West Conference may announce additional sanctions against Henderson Monday or support the same one-game suspension.
