Layton Hills Mall closed due to water, power problem

LAYTON — Layton Hills Mall is expected to re-open Tuesday, two days after a water-main break ruined a power transformer at the shopping center.

Brian Lutz, spokesman for mall owner CBL & Associates Properties, said crews with Rocky Mountain Power are expected to have the transformer repaired Monday. He did not know what caused a private water main on mall property to break Sunday, damaging the transformer near the food court.

Macy's and JCPenney have remained open throughout the repairs, Lutz said. The rest of the mall should open as usual at 10 a.m. Tuesday.

Customers can check for updated information on the mall's opening, Lutz said.
