Red Cross: 'Run for Red' set for March 6

PROVO — The annual American Red Cross "Run for Red" 5K and one-mile walk is set for Saturday, March 6.

The event will start at 10 a.m. at Independence High School, 636 Independence Ave. It's open to all Utahns interested in running for the cause.

"The objective of Run for Red is to raise funds and create public awareness for your local American Red Cross programs," said Natasha Alarid, a race volunteer. "We also want to bring members of the community together to have a fun time while they're helping out a great cause."

All proceeds from Run for Red will go toward the Red Cross Disaster Services. The program responds to local disasters and emergency situations by providing food, shelter, medical assistance, utility support and counseling, as well as messaging to military personnel and their families.

Participants can register online at Admission is $20 for adults, $15 for students with a valid student ID and $12 per person for a group of 12 or more. Participants receive a free T-shirt and breakfast.
