SALT LAKE CITY — A Park City man was charged Friday with aggravated assault after his victim identified him from a Facebook page, police say.
Brooks Richard Finlinson punched a man on Nov. 25, 2009, after the man tried to feed stray cats on a vacant lot Finlinson told the man belonged to his family. After punching the man, Finlinson went to his truck to get a bat or club, but left after the victim said he had called police.
On Dec. 30, 2009, Finlinson's victim contacted police and told them he found the man who punched him on Facebook. He had searched for the name of the man who owned the lot on the social networking site and found a picture of Finlinson on the same page. The victim later picked Finlinson out of a photo lineup including Finlinson's driver's license picture.
The victim's jaw was broken in several places and will require surgery to fully repair.
Finlinson's aggravated assault charge is a second-degree felony.
