Mardi Gras party at St. Olaf center

BOUNTIFUL — Grab your hats, beads, masks and costumes: There is a Mardi Gras celebration today at 6:30 p.m. in the St. Olaf McNamara Center, 1800 South Orchard Drive, Bountiful.

The cost is $3 per person or $10 per family.

Baptist sermon on fresh view of Jesus

PROVO — The First Baptist Church of Provo, 1144 W. Columbia Lane, will feature "Action-packed Jesus" in its Sunday, Feb. 14, 11 a.m. worship service, by Pastor Russ Robinson.

The sermon is expected to give people a fresh view of Jesus.

Nursery and children's church are available during the worship celebration.

Unitarian sermons will focus on love

SALT LAKE CITY — The First Unitarian Church of Salt Lake, 569 S. 1300 East, will feature "Be of Love (a little) More Careful Than of Everything" in its Sunday, Feb. 14, 9 and 11 a.m. sermons by Rev. Tom Goldsmith.

Methodists to offer pancake breakfast

Christ United Methodist Church, 2375 E. 3300 South, will hold its second annual "Pax Cakes" event on Tuesday, Feb. 16, 6 to 8:30 p.m.

Seminar on Liturgy of the Hours slated

AMERICAN FORK — The public is invited to "Liturgy of the Hours in a Parish Setting," Tuesday, Feb. 16, at 7 p.m. at St. Peter Parish, 634 N. 600 East, American Fork.

Timothy Johnston, director of the Diocesan Office of Liturgy, will give the history and format of the Liturgy of the Hours.

After a short break, there will be a second session for those interested in leading the Liturgy of the Hours.

10 events planned for Interfaith Week

Salt Lake's Interfaith Roundtable will climax its annual Interfaith Week with an "Interfaith Musical Tribute," Sunday, Feb. 21, 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the Tabernacle on Temple Square.

Catholic, Presbyterian, Jewish, LDS, Greek Orthodox and Muslim performers and more will all offer music or dance.

Carole Mikita of KSL-TV will be emcee of the event. Free tickets for this event are available at www.lds.org.

Jewish center plans school open house

The Jewish Community Center, 2 N. Medical Drive, will hold an early childhood open house for its preschool and kindergarten programs on Thursday, Feb. 18. The open house will be offered at five different starting times — 9, 9:30,10 and 10:30 a.m. and again at 6 p.m.

Carol Torrance to speak at retreat

Utah Aglow will hold its spring retreat on April 16-18 at the Embassy Suites in Salt Lake City, with a theme of "Follow the Way of Love."

Carol Torrance will be the featured speaker. Advance registration is $70, or $80 after April 1.

Monastery to offer retreat for women

OGDEN — The Mount Benedict Monastery has invited mothers and daughters or important women in their lives to a special retreat on Friday, Feb. 19, 5:30 to 9 p.m. at the monastery, 6000 S. 1075 East, South Ogden.

Scouts to receive religious emblems

SALT LAKE CITY — The Most Rev. John C. Wester, bishop of the Diocese of Salt Lake City, will bless and award all Catholic Scouts with their religious emblems on Saturday, March 6.
