High school sports: Preps of the week

ZACH MYAER, Judge Memorial, basketball

The Bulldogs have surged to the top of the Region 11 standings, winning the league title. The play of this senior guard is a big reason why.

Myaer hit the game-winning shot in Judge's 51-49 win over Ben Lomond last Wednesday. Myaer had 13 points, nine assists and two rebounds in that game for the Bulldogs, who won their final nine league games.

Myaer is Judge's only returning starter this season, and he's provided the Bulldogs with leadership and toughness. At 5-foot-8, he's the team's second-leading rebounder. He's the team's second-leading scorer and among 3A's leaders in assists and steals.

BECCA BEAUDOIN, Alta, girls basketball

This senior guard leads her team with 68 3-pointers and ranks second in the state with her 3.5 treys per game.

Last week Beaudoin sank 13 total 3-pointers with seven against Hillcrest on Thursday and six against American Fork on Tuesday. She scored 45 total points in the two games and is averaging 17.1 ppg for the season.

The 5-foot-9 senior also is averaging 1.4 steals and 3.6 rebounds this season.

Alta coach Kristi Jensen is proud of the way Beaudoin has been leading the team in so many ways, especially given the tough nature of Region 4 basketball this season.

"It's a playoff atmosphere almost every game," said Jensen.
