Civilian deaths inevitable

Two things are inevitable in war and conflict. The first is there are going to be dead and injured soldiers. The second, dead and injured civilians.

When the rules of engagement state it is absolutely essential that the military avoid the second, that is tantamount to fighting a boxing match with one hand tied behind the back. It is imperative that our soldiers be able to put their other glove on, otherwise there can only be two outcomes — total demoralization or coming home in a body bag. If our military commanders are not allowed to win at all costs against the Taliban, then it is criminal to be over there at all. It is time this administration gave the military all of its attention and the discretion to use the tools to either win this war or bring our brave soldiers home.
