Riverton fire destroys garage, car

RIVERTON — A family's garage and antique car were destroyed but firefighters were able to save the family's two pet dogs Sunday night.

Firefighters responded to the fully involved garage fire near 2100 W. 12900 South to find the detached two-car garage fully aflame. Family members had attempted to put out the blaze before calling for help about 11:45 p.m.

Unified Fire Authority Capt. Klint Anderson said they were able to stop the fire from spreading to other adjacent vehicles and a boat, but more than $50,000 worth of possessions were destroyed, including the garage, antique car and personal belongings.

No one was injured in the fire.
