Politicians must fight

Jim Ngo (Readers' Forum, Feb. 4) states that Sen. Bob Bennett and most of Congress are misguided because they envision their work as a fight. I think if Mr. Ngo looks at history he will see that this is nothing new. Our country has different political parties and different branches of government to ensure that one group of politicians can't force their ideas on the American people without a lot of debate and transparency. Inasmuch as the controlling political party has decided not to debate openly or to inform the American people, the other party has to fight to expose and stop legislation that is contrary to the desires of the majority of the American people.
