Chase Walker and Helen Hovenier meet President Barack Obama on Dec. 17, 2009. They brought the President a limited edition of "Journals: Volume 1" of the Joseph Smith Papers. Hovenier's father, Jeffrey Hovenier, works as director for Central and Eastern European Affairs on the National Security Council, while Walker's father, Jeffrey Walker, works on the Joseph Smith Papers Project. According to Chase Walker, President Obama commented to Hovenier's father that he wanted to make sure he got the book — that it didn't get lost going through the protocol and security process. The couple were married the next day in the Washington D.C. Temple.
