2010 Winter Olympics: U.S. bobsled team grabs bronze behind Canada's gold, silver

WHISTLER, British Columbia — An odd couple brought together by an odd twist, bobsledders Kaillie Humphries and Heather Moyse pumped up Canada's Olympic pride. These two own the podium. And gold medals. Canada won silver, too.

Americans Erin Pac and Elana Meyers Had to make their final run just minutes after Germany's No. 2 sled crashed on the 50-50 curve. Push athlete Romy Logsch flew out of the sled after it flipped onto its side and the helmet of Cathleen Martini slammed into the ice.

Pac said they were told by coaches to focus on the middle of the track, if they wanted to medal.

"We mainly focused on 10, 11, 12 and 13 because if we didn't make it through there," she said. "We weren't going to make it through the race and so our main focus was getting through there and trying to get the right line."

Pac said they were focused only on what they could do on the track.

"I knew if we didn't crash we should medal so I was just telling myself 'Stay focused and go through it,'" she said.
