'2012' to be released on DVD Tuesday

The following DVDs will be released Tuesday, unless otherwise specified:

"2012" (Sony, $28.96) — ★★½ Don't think too hard about this dopey science-fiction thriller and its sketchy plotting.

Special features: Deleted scenes, alternate ending, behind-the-scenes minidocumentary, music video.

PG-13 (violence, profanity, vulgarity, brief gore, brief nudity, slurs)

"The Beaches of Agnes" (The Cinema Guild, $29.95) — Autobiographical documentary from filmmaker Agnes Varda. French with subtitles.

Not rated, probable PG-13 (profanity, slurs, vulgarity)

"Cold Souls" (Fox, $19.98) — ★★★ A mix of surrealist science fiction and off-kilter humor that is not for all audiences or all tastes.

PG-13 (profanity, drugs, vulgarity, slurs, brief nudity, brief sex)

"Gentlemen Broncos" (Fox, $27.98) — ★★ Another slacker-doofus comedy, this one with an unfortunate obsession with scatological humor.

PG-13 (vulgarity, violence, profanity, drugs, slurs)

R (profanity, sex, nudity)

G (violence, slurs)

"The Private Lives of Pippa Lee" (Screen Media, $27.98) — Drama starring Robin Wright Penn as a woman on the verge of a nervous breakdown.

Not rated, probable R (profanity, vulgarity)

"Where the Wild Things Are" (Warner, $28.98) — ★★★ The long-awaited, live-action fantasy looks beautiful but is too intense for children.
