High school hockey: Viewmont, Skyline skate for state title this evening

SALT LAKE CITY — Skyline skated past Brighton, 5-1, on Friday night in an elimination hockey game to earn the chance to meet undefeated Viewmont (18-0) tonight for the state title in the Utah High School Hockey Championships.

They'll drop the puck at 4:45 p.m. at the SLC Sports Complex.

Viewmont is virtually unchallenged this season, rolling up football-like scores on some occasions.

However, if the Vikings should lose, another game would be necessary and is slated for Monday at 7 p.m. between the same two teams.

For the first time ever, this year's Utah state champion will travel to Chicago to compete in the USA National Hockey Finals.
