Utah Utes football: Players submit letters of intent

Signed letters of intent began arriving at the Univeristy of Utah football offices early Wednesday morning.

By 9 a.m., 17 had been cleared and posted on the athletic department's web site. The initial batch included seven players from Texas, a pair of high school quarterbacks and All-American defensive lineman James Aiono of Snow College.

The ever-growing list, which has since grown to 24, includes:

JAMES AIONO (6-4, 305, DL, Snow College): Junior college All-American enrolled in January. Rated No. 1 junior college recruit by in 2008...

DRES ANDERSON (6-1, 157, WR, J.W. North HS, Calif.): The son of former NFL star "Flipper" Anderson is a three-time letterman. Made 29 catches as a junior and 11 in six games as a senior.

BRIAN BLECHEN (6-2, 203, QB, Moorpark HS, Calif.): Led his team to back-to-back league titles. All-CIF honoree was also a school-record setting punter.

ZACH BOLTON (6-2, 271, OL, Klein Forest HS, Texas): Two-time first-team all-district. One of top offensive linemen in Greater Houston area.

PRINCETON COLLINS (5-11, 198, RB, Westwood HS, Texas): Topped 1,000 yards rushing in all three seasons he played high school ball. First-team all-district in 2008 and 2009. Averaged 6.4 yards per carry as a senior.

JOHN CULLEN (6-6, 285, OT, Fullerton College, Calif.): Rated as the No. 1 junior college offensive lineman by Team MVP. Chose Utah over Oklahoma and USC.

V.J. FEHOKO (5-11, 215, LB, Farrington HS, Hawaii): Highly touted All-American tallied 83 tackles and 30.5 sacks as a senior. Finished his junior year with 86 tackles and 19.5 sacks.

WYKIE FREEMAN (5-11, 158, DB, Pasadena, Memorial HS, Texas): Used his 10...6 speed in the 100 meters to pick off six passes the past two years.

JACOBY HALE (6-0, 192, LB, Beaumont HS, Texas): District defensive MVP racked up 131 tackles as a senior. Graduated early Cum Laude honors.

MIKE HONEYCUTT (5-10, 180, DB, Lone Peak HS): Returned LDS Church missionary. Originally signed in 2007. Helped Lone Peak win two region titles.

OFA LATU (6-1, 210, LB, Timpview HS): Deseret News 4A MVP helped the Thunderbirds win three state titles. Plans to serve an LDS Church mission before enrolling in college.

JOE KRUGER (6-7, 245, DE, Pleasant Grove HS): Led the state with 15 sacks as a senior. Younger brother for former Ute Paul and current sophomore Dave.

STAR LOTULELEI (6-4, 300, DL, Snow College): Former Bingham High star, who made 72 tackles and seven sacks as a senior, joins the Utes after spending the past two seasons at Snow College.

DAMIAN PAYNE (6-0, 200, DB, Klein Forest HS, Texas): Graduated early and enrolled at Utah in January. Lettered four times. Had three picks last season.

LUCKY RADLEY (5-9, 187, RB, Taft HS, Calif.): Had 1,500 all-purpose yards in eight games as a senior. Rushed for 1,200 yards as a junior. Also excelled at linebacker with 254 career tackles and seven interceptions.

TERRELL REESE (6-0, 198, WR, Brenham HS, Texas): All-district performer made 72 catches as a senior, racking up 915 yards and 15 touchdowns. He's also a basketball MVP.

KENNETH SCOTT (6-3, 192, WR, Colony HS, Calif.): Finished a stellar prep career with 90 receptions for 1,704 yards and 15 touchdowns. Also made four interceptions as a defensive back.

TYLER SHREVE (6-3, 218, QB, Redlands East Valley HS, Calif.): Three-time league MVP has served as a team captain the past two seasons. Talented athlete is an All-American baseball player.

JOSEPH SMITH (5-9, 179, DB, Norco HS, Calif.): Three-time all-league selection (first team once, second team twice) has leadership experience, having served as a co-captain.

SEFA TANOAI (6-3, 275, TE/DE, Pleasant Grove HS): Versatile athlete is a football and basketball team captain. Plans to serve an LDS Church mission before enrolling.

WESTLEE TONGA (6-4, 235, TE, Spring HS, Texas): Originally signed in 2007, but opted to serve an LDS Church mission before enrolling in college.

RON TONGAONEVAI (6-3, 345, OL, Snow College): Mid-year transfer has already enrolled at Utah. Former Hunter High star can also play defense.

SIONE TUPOUATA (6-4, 260, Fremont HS, Calif.): Conference MVP in 2009 was the top defender in the Oakland Athletic League in 2008. Was also a running back of note.

MICHAEL WALKER (5-9, 171, DB, Brenham HS, Texas): District player of the year made 130 tackles as a senior, 38 of the stops were behind the line of scrimmage. Played linebacker and running back in high school.
