OGDEN — Police are looking for two men who investigators believe kicked in the door of a home Thursday and stole computer equipment from the homeowner at gunpoint.
The home invasion robbery occurred about 6:30 a.m. at a home near 25th Street and Orchard Avenue, said Ogden Police Lt. Scott Sangberg.
The victim told officers he was asleep when he heard the back door being kicked in. He said he reached for his cell phone but was blinded by a flashlight and threatened with a handgun, Sangberg said.
The man was ordered to the ground while his assailants gathered up a laptop computer, a computer monitor and other computer equipment. The men also took the man's cell phone and threatened to return and kill him if he called police, the lieutenant said.
The victim runs a computer repair and sales business out of his home. Officers are investigating whether the man's online business ads made him a target.
Police located the stolen computer equipment on a nearby street corner, leading them to believe the robbers "got spooked before they reached their getaway car," Sangberg said.
