Utah Legislature: Lawmakers honor Boy Scouts

SALT LAKE CITY — Eagle Scouts from around the state were joined by a live, flapping golden eagle as lawmakers honored the 100th anniversary of the Boy Scouts of America on Monday.

State Scouting leaders were introduced during floor time on Capitol Hill as legislators passed a resolution recognizing the organization. The event was accented by a golden eagle brought by Southwest Wildlife Foundation founder Martin Tyner.

Senate President Mike Waddoups, R-West Jordan, praised the Boy Scouts for "treating boys as No.1 for 100 years." The group also met with Gov. Gary Herbert.
