MOAB — A Colorado woman was killed over the weekend when her ATV rolled on the Poison Spider Trail, the Grand County Sheriff's Office said.

Lynne Hart, 48, of Thornton, Colo., was riding with her husband and others near Moab when the crash occurred about noon Saturday. Hart had gone down a hill about seven miles from the trailhead and realized she had to back up to change her line of approach to descend a second hill.

"As she backed up, she hit the accelerator by mistake," the sheriff's office said. "The ATV continued into a 25-foot deep pothole, and the ATV rolled over on top of her."

Members of Hart's party performed CPR on the woman until a medical helicopter arrived. The helicopter's medical crew continued CPR for another 10 minutes before pronouncing Hart dead at the scene.

Hart sustained fatal internal injuries in the crash, the sheriff's office said. Her helmet was also crushed.

The crash was one of three incidents deputies responded to in the Moab area over the weekend involving injured off-road riders, the sheriff's office said.
